MAINE PEGMATITE WORKSHOP   September 6-10, 2023

Sponsored by and held at the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum, Bethel, Maine

Hands-on and collegial five day intensive workshop about granitic pegmatites, the  rock where tourmalines (and more) are born. During the workshop, you’ll also take field trips to mines in the area to see the day’s subject matter in situ, and learn how to better discern what you’re seeing. Lead by a team of pegmatology experts, several of whom are professors, you can gain a new and deeper appreciation for the ground we walk on in New England, and beyond.

(All NEMA Board Members have attended the Workshop, and two have led portions of it over the years.) You are guaranteed to get your money’s worth at this incredible workshop! Workshop fee includes the new Second Edition Workshop Course Book, notepad and pens, coffee breaks, ice breaker, farewell dinner, mine fees, insurance coverage, and all sales taxes. Make your plans now to attend. (To help defray expenses, there are two scholarships that have been established specifically for the ME Pegmatite Workshop.  Additionally, some local clubs have scholarships for workshops and learning experiences for their members. Check with your local club to see what might be offered/available.)
