Don’t It Make Our Brown Eyes Blue…Unfortunately, we chose to NOT hold the NEMA Conference again this year due to COVID/Omicron concerns and the total inability of students to attend Education Day. Unless there is some new catastrophe in 2023, we will hold the 4th attempt at the 8th Annual New England Mineral Conference on May 19-21, 2023 at Sunday River. We are anxious to all be able to gather again, both indoors and out, and to have some version of Education Day be our Friday focus. Please note these dates in your calendars. We plan to have online registration available in late fall of 2022. Watch our Facebook page, and e-mails from us for more information. If you know that you want to be a vendor at the 2023 Conference, please let us know by contacting Jeff Morrison at jmorris7@maine.rr.com . We do have a bit of an alternative event. We will again be sponsoring a Spring Mineral Tailgate Sale at the Havey Quarry, 34 Levine Road, Poland, Maine on May 28th from 9am to 4pm. (rain date of May 29th). There will be minerals/mineral related items for sale by vendors, a kid’s education area, and some food for purchase. (Vendors *must* sign up in advance with Jeff at jmorris7@maine.rr.com or by calling him at 207.232.4973.) We will have six non-collecting tours of the mine beginning on the hour from 10am to 3pm. Meeting spot for tours is at the head of trail at the left of the cul-de-sac (look for signs/markers). There is no entry fee to attend the Tailgate, and there will be on-site parking. If you would like to serve as a volunteer at the Tailgate, please contact Jan by email. If you would like to have a spot as a vendor please contact Jeff at 207.232.4973 or by email. Special instructions will be sent to vendors via e-mail after they have secured a spot with Jeff. |
